Support Groups
On Your Own—A Support Group for Separated or Divorced Persons
Divorce can be one of the most traumatic events in an adult’s
life. It often includes not only the loss of the marital
relationship, but also the loss of other relationships, as well as of
identity, trust, home, and financial security. But divorce can
also be an opportunity for new beginnings. This four-week program
will provide an opportunity to talk, to learn, to mourn, to heal, and
to grow within a supportive and confidential group setting.
When: Mondays, April 21, 28, May 5, 12, 7:30-9:00 p.m.
Where: The Middleton Center
Leader: Kathy Davis, LSW,

Loss and Grief
Following
the death of a

shared, feelings are expressed, and ways to maintain a healthy
connection with the lost person are explored.
When: The second Saturday of the month.

Where: The Middleton Center
Leader: David M. Reed, PhD

The Bullpen—
This successful men's support group will have new focus: STRESS
Studies show that men
generally feel stress from five issues: 1) each new decade of life: 2) death of
a loved one; 3) divorce or other major family change; 4) diagnosis of a serous
health condition; 5) decline in the ability to live independently. Those who go
it alone have the most stress. Those who share with concerned friends learn
from each other and do much better. This is what the Bullpen offers.
When: The
second Friday of each month.
Time: 10:00-11:30 a.m.
Where: The Middleton Center
Leader: Dr. David Reed, PhD
Cost: $20.00 per session

Being Still and
Knowing God:
The Practice of
Centering Prayer
Centering
Prayer is drawn from ancient prayer practices of the Christian
contemplative tradition. It is a way of responding to the Spirit
of Christ by consenting to God’s presence and action
within. Centering Prayer is not meant to replace other kinds of
prayer; rather it casts a new light and depth of meaning on them.
It is at the same time a relationship with God and a discipline to
foster that relationship. The practice is gaining in recognition,
primarily through the writings and teachings of Thomas Keating.
Date: Sundays, May 4, 11, 18
Time: 9:30 a.m.
Where: Fullerton Room, the Ministries Center
Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church
Leader: Rev. Woody Sheetz-Willard, an ordained Presbyterian minister
who has served the church as pastor, pastoral counselor, spiritual
director, hospital and nursing home chaplain and retreat leader.
He is currently serving as spiritual care coordinator and bereavement

Centering Prayer and an active participant with Contemplative Outreach,
Ltd.
